  1. 01

    The short version

Preflight Reader does not collect any data about you. It has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

The documents you open, the marks you make on them and the times you enter stay on your device. They are never uploaded, and the developer has no ability to see them.

  2. 02

    Who is responsible

Preflight Reader is developed and published by Andres Pöllänen, Stockholm, Sweden, who is the data controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Questions about this policy, or about privacy in the app, can be sent to support@andrespollanen.se. Enquiries are answered directly by the developer.

  3. 03

    Data the app collects

None. Preflight Reader collects no personal data, no usage data, no diagnostics, no identifiers and no location data.

The app does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide a name, email address or any other detail about yourself. Because no account exists, there is no account to delete.

  4. 04

What the app handles on your device

The app works with the operational flight plan documents you choose to open in it, together with anything you add to them: pen and highlighter marks, and the airborne time you enter so the app can calculate waypoint times.

This handling happens entirely on your device. It is processing that you initiate and control, not collection: none of it is transmitted, and none of it reaches the developer or anyone else.

  5. 05

    Where your documents are stored

Documents and annotations live only on the device where you opened them. They are held within the app’s own storage area, protected by the operating system and by whatever passcode, Face ID or Touch ID you have set.

The app does not sync to iCloud, and it does not sync to any other service. There is no cloud storage, no online backup and no transfer between devices: a document opened on one device stays on that device.

The one thing outside the app’s control is your own device backup. If you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups switched on, iOS may include app data in those backups as it does for other apps. That happens at the operating system level, under your Apple account and your settings, and the developer has no access to it.

You remain in control. Removing a document in the app removes it, and deleting the app removes the app’s stored data from the device. Because the developer holds no copy, there is nothing held elsewhere that would survive that deletion.

  6. 06

    Third parties and software libraries

The app links no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting or social media libraries. No data is shared with any third party, because none is collected.

The app is built with Apple’s own frameworks supplied as part of iOS, which run locally on the device.

  7. 07

    Tracking

Preflight Reader does not track you. It does not access the Identifier for Advertisers, does not build a profile of you, and does not link any information about you or your device with data from other companies’ apps or websites.

For that reason the app does not present an App Tracking Transparency request, as there is no tracking to ask permission for.

  8. 08

    Apple and the App Store

Downloading, purchasing or updating the app is handled by Apple Inc. under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy, and Apple may collect information about that transaction independently of the developer.

Apple may also provide the developer with aggregated, anonymised sales and usage statistics through App Store Connect. These cannot identify an individual user, and no flight document data reaches the developer through them.

  9. 09

    Your rights under the GDPR

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and data portability in respect of personal data held about you.

Because the app collects nothing and the developer holds no copy of your documents, there is in practice no personal data held about you to disclose, correct, export or erase. Your documents remain under your own control on your device.

If you have written to the support address, that correspondence is kept only for as long as needed to answer you, and you can ask for it to be deleted at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in Sweden this is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY).

  10. 10

    International transfers

None take place. Your documents do not leave your device, so there is no transfer of personal data to any country or international organisation by this app.

  11. 11

    Children

Preflight Reader is a professional tool intended for use by adults working in aviation. It is not directed at children, is not offered in the Kids Category, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included.

  12. 12

    Professional use and responsibility

Preflight Reader is an aid for reading a document you already hold. It is not a certified or approved flight instrument, it is not a source of navigation data, and it must not be used as a primary source for flight planning, dispatch, navigation or record-keeping.

The official dispatch documentation, the aircraft operating documents and the operator’s approved procedures are always the authority. Responsibility for verifying any figure against those sources, and for every operational decision taken, rests entirely with the person using the app.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided as it is, without warranty, and the developer accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from its use or from reliance on anything it displays. Nothing in this policy limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

  13. 13

    Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects how it handles information, this policy will be updated before or alongside that change, and the date shown above will be revised. Material changes will also be reflected in the app’s App Privacy information in the App Store.
